Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, it made me think that another studio was trying to find success in another children’s book series, as in trying to replicate the success of Harry Potter. It even further bothered me that it had this lightning thing in common with HP. Nonetheless, it still looked like it might be good. Every weekend we’ve been debating on whether to rent it on demand and this weekend we made it happen. I was shocked at how fast the movie jumped into the action of the plot. We didn’t really have to learn much in order to understand, which I liked. The kids that were cast in the film were exceptional and the celebrities that pop up are fun to see, my favorite being Uma Thurman as Medusa. I’m hoping that we get to see more of Percy Jackson and the Olympians in theaters soon. Percy very well could be the next Harry Potter if the movies keep coming.

Glad to see that I wasn't the only adult to like "Percy Jackson". I've always been a fan of Mythology and likewise hope these keep coming. My favorite was the substitute teacher-as-Harpy. Classic.
